A Set of 4 Rosewood Model 31 Dining chairs.
Kai Kristiansen's Model 31 is one of the most well-known chairs of the Danish design invasion that swept across Europe and the Americas during the 50's and 60's.
Designed by Kai Kristiansen - a true Classic with its curved backrest, opposed angular frame, clean lines and is also very comfortable.
The A-frame model 31 dining chairs were designed by Kai Kristiansen in 1956 for Schou-Andersens Møbelfabrik (Furniture Manufacturing).
The teak frames have been, knocked apart, re-glued. Stripped and the French polished by hand with a final wax to bring out the rich colour and patination of the wood. Finally we have then stripped off and newly upholstered the seats in a fabric sympathetic to the period.
Kai Kristiansen is often referred to as the father of modern Danish furniture design. See Details to learn more.

Designer - Kai Kristiansen was born in Denmark in 1929. He trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and on finishing his apprenticeship as a furniture maker in 1948, became a cabinetmaker for Kaare Klint. Klint developed a progressive and humanistic approach to design and is often referred to as the father of modern Danish furniture design.
Emulating his mentor, Kristiansen opened his own design shop in 1955 and worked with various manufacturers to create beautifully crafted, innovative, human-centred furniture “defined by clean lines and a perfect balance of form and function.”
