Niki Usagi

17th - 25th May 2025 –

Niki Usagi (she/her) is a Budapest-born multidisciplinary artist who has been living and working in London since 2015. Her BA degree in cinema theory and history fuelled her passion for tales and storytelling: be it written, on the screen, or just simply overheard on public transport. She is fascinated by the rationally unexplainable and the absurdity of the human race. Her work is often inspired by music, film/TV and the colourful tapestry of pop-culture. As a commercial illustrator she worked with clients like the LA Times, Tate or Ben&Jerry’s. Her curiosity led her to UAL’s Camberwell College of Arts, where she graduated from MA Illustration in 2024. Most of these paintings were created as part of her graduation project ‘Her Body In Limbo’, in which she intended to depict the struggles of hormonal changes and menopause. By drawing parallels between the historical demonisation of witches and the symptoms of (peri)menopause she wanted to transform the mundane into the spiritual, inspired by the genre of magical realism.
