"One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The latter procedure, however, is disagreeable and therefore not popular.” - Carl Jung The relationship between light and darkness, so very central to the practice of photography in its rawest analogue physical form is a useful tool to explore our own struggle with this duality. By seeking a dialogue between the soothing and the disquieting, the darkness a more familiar place and one from which to draw wisdom. Knowing darkness is and forming a relationship with it is a meaningful step towards understanding of our surroundings and ultimately ourselves.
