Rosario Piqueras Benavides

26 Sept - 06 Oct –

Rosario is a creative artist and art educator from Spain. She studied in Granada, Madrid, Florence and London where she now lives and works. Her portraits are inspired by the Italian Renaissance, the Spanish Baroque and early 20th century child photography, and they represent fictional characters from children's stories. The portraits are not merely a mechanical reproduction of facial features, Rosario draws contemporary faces framed in the "old times", thus making them unique. For the last few years she is exploring other mediums as embroidery and installation. Her artwork explores through portraits and soft sculpture the definitions of home, childhood and memories to create poetic images that tell non verbal stories. She uses text as texture, text as poetry and text as metaphor.
