William Horner

13th June - 30th June 2024 –

William Horner was born in London, studied sculpture at the Royal College of Art and went on to set up Strangelove Studios in London. His work moves between object and image, setting up a play of associations through various materials and forms. He is interested in the precarious status of objects, how they fall out of use and re-emerge as images of themselves, opening up other purposes and imaginings. Having moved out of London, he now works from a cow byre on Pierrepont farm, Frensham.

Relief

Moving between object and image, his practice sets up a play of associations through a wide variety materials and forms. He is interested in the precarious status of objects, how, through the creative process, they fall out of use and re-emerge as images of themselves, opening up other purposes and imaginings.

For this new exhibition, Horner has produced a series of works that explore the shallow space of relief where two- and three-dimensions play off each other. Outlines and impressions embody the traces and vestiges of things and summon ideas and references within both negative and positive space.
