G Plan oval extending dining table, model number 4387, most probably from the Fresco range.
Launched in November 1969, this model was designed by Victor Bramwell Wilkins, and manufactured in High Wycombe England by E Gomme Ltd; it would have been produced through into the 1970s.
Oval dining table that extends with an internal leaf on a fixed butterfly mechanism. Table surface is teak veneer on engineered board, with a moulded afromosia edge. It has turned tapered legs made from solid afromosia, that come off an apron of teak veneered, steam bent plywood.
This piece has a G Plan Red Label, which was primarily used between 1965-1975, although it was still in use on some pieces into the 1980s.
The G Plan Fresco range was launched in 1966, and was primarily designed by Victor Bramwell Wilkins. The initial design was inspired by the pop art motif of a circle, and the Danish Modern design movement, it was made in teak, with solid afromosia features, such as sculptured handles. Fresco became G Plan’s most successful range, continuing to evolve, with new additions added, throughout the 1970s, and still being sold in the early 1980s. For more information on E. Table has been revived in our restoration workshop.
Whilst this piece is in great condition, it is vintage, and as such have patination commensurate with their age.
Please note that due to the piece's age the internal leaves may be a slightly different colour to the rest of the table.
