Large, rosewood, coffee table with an elliptical table top, made in the 1960s.


This unusual coffee table would be the perfect focal point for any mid-century modern, or contemporary interior. The table top has an asymmetric, elliptical shape, and we think that it may have been adapted from a larger piece. It has a book matched rosewood veneer on top, as well as a balancing veneer that covers the back and sides. Book matched veneer is a process wherein consecutive leaves of veneer are flipped open facing each other like pages in a book, creating a mirror image of the previous leaf. The top sits on solid rosewood frame and legs. The frame makes an ‘X’ underneath the top, and the legs are tapered with a moulded, elliptical edge.

This piece is currently being revived in our restoration workshop.

Whilst this piece is in great condition, it is vintage, and as such has patination commensurate with its age.
